"Heads and Hands" is a wonderful "gift" started by a tiny urban church several years ago. They wanted to do something meaningful for the neighborhood kids so they put a Christmas Tree in their small narthex and labeled it THE MITTEN TREE. Parishioners would bring in pairs of mittens and gloves and hang them on the tree. These were given to the kids at the beginning of winter so that they could keep their hands warm and remember that there was a church full of people who cared about them. Through the years we've also started to collect hats, caps and scarves...all in the same spirit that started the MITTEN TREE. This is a neat project for a homeschool group, Sunday School class or small group!
