Pictures of Little Boys and Girls

The kids were making a collage about "What's God Like". I was looking for words like loving, kind and forgiving. But the kids couldn't understand the concept. They thought I was asking them "What does God like". So we went with it. According to them, God likes flowers, cats and cars.

One of the volunteers asked a little girl what she thought God likes. The little girl looked over towards the wall. It was full of "All About Me" displays, each with a picture, drawing and information about the kids who come to the church. The little girl smiled.

She looked back to the volunteer, "God loves pictures of little boys and girls."

I'm sure of that.

To think that God made us in His image is amazing. To think that He cares for us, despite generations of our trying to mar that image, is remarkable. God's love undoes me. His graces redefine my hollow fear. His Truth transforms my emptiness. This is the God who loves pictures of little boys and girls.

How could we do anything less than fall into His arms?

"...the Father...loves men and women,
not for what He finds in them,
but for what lies within Himself."
