God has a special place in His heart for shepherds. He loved Abel. David was a man after His own heart. The chosen brother, Jacob, watched the flocks of Laban. When Jesus came to earth He didn't alert the government or the military officials...He told a rag-tag group of shepherds. And then to seal the deal He describes Himself as the Good Shepherd. We, in our wandering and neediness, seem destined to "sheepness". There is something special about this relationship between the weak and the strong, the helpless and the protector. God knew this from the beginning. (Genesis 4:2-5) |
