Cain was a farmer so he brought an offering from his labors. God didn't like it. I've never really understood this. Was it the action or the attitude that displeased God? Was it both? Did Cain know God wanted a blood sacrifice or was it one of those "Jacob have I loved and Esau have I hated" kind of things? (Malachi 1:2, Romans 9:13) I do know that there is so much that I don't know. And because I this I must lean on the One who does. Answers we understand...but a mysterious God understand us. If God fit within the confines of our minds He would cease to be God. I would comprehend his power and He could never surprise me...let alone redeem me. (Genesis 4:2-5) |
