Peace is hard to keep. The blessings were too much and the servants of Abraham and Lot began to fight against each other. Abram knew that it was better to have less with peace, than more with conflict. So he let his nephew pick his own portion of the land. Lot was no fool, he chose the best land. Perhaps Abraham was dismayed, but as for his God this was just the kind of plot He likes to act in. Creating everything out of nothing. For a man with no son, God promised descendants that would outnumber the grains of sand on the seashore. And to a man who just got stiffed will class "B" farming land, He promised an inheritance that spanned "further than the eye can see". With God in the loop, an old man and dry, rocky land is rarely what it seems to be. (Genesis 13:1-18)
